  He probably did you a favor by being honest and up front. Not all Appraisers have the time and if they did, would charge a large hourly fee. Only a few are very experienced in expert testimony and you should defer to your attorney who can help you choose one. I am a very experienced expert witness and welcomed any Court assignment - BUT the other side ALWAYS lost their case to me. Very few Appraisers are good expert witnesses and those who are usually charge a HEFTY fee. If they don't - beware - I know many excellent Appraisers who won't testify in court for various reasons Speak to your Attorney about getting an experienced Expert witness - It is a specialty. Ethically - He is not permitted to accept any assignment unless he is totally comfortable with fufilling it successfully With that in mind - He seems to be a very good appraiser.
